Ted glanced idly at the newspaper, all the while pretending to be absorbed in the words in front of him. He was keenly aware of Martha’s hesitant steps towards him as well as her pained glances.
But he had made up his mind. While everyone else around him including Martha thought he was bonkers, he was quietly luminescent about finally finding his calling.
Never the one to hold his wife hostage to his views, he had nonetheless been firm about his choice. Just thinking of the white facade of the temple and its tomes “gopurams” calmed his racing mind. The ancients’ way of life was no longer a topic of discussion nor merely a doubtful alternate theology.
He felt the power of his convictions coursing through his veins as he quietly chanted under his breath –
“Hare Rama, Hare Krishna.”

Oh, oh! Glad he’s found his calling, but wondering about what his family may be thinking of it.
Excellent take on the prompt, Lavanya!

Thanks Mayuri. It was his beard which set me off. Hopefully his wife will give him the same space he gives her 🙂
